Early Ancient Greece

The Archaic Period - c. 800–500 BCE

A period of cultural rebirth after the Dark Ages where independent city-states emerged, the alphabet was adopted, and epic poetry like Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey was composed.

Emerging from the Greek Dark Ages, this era saw the formation of independent city-states (poleis), the adoption of the alphabet, and early cultural developments. Epic poetry (Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey), the establishment of early laws, and the rise of trade and colonization laid the groundwork for later advancements.
